A powerhouse in both academia and industry, Glenn J. Benzon has established himself as one of the most dynamic figures in the Philippine hospitality and tourism education sector. With a career rooted in service, education, and professional excellence, Glenn blends academic rigor with real-world hospitality experience—making him a pillar of leadership at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP).

Currently serving as Instructor II and College Coordinator for Extension Services and Community Involvement at UNP’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Glenn has been shaping the next generation of hoteliers and tourism professionals since 2009. His teaching is grounded in years of frontline experience, including roles as Manager of the UNP Hostel, Consultant at Rivers’ Mixology Bar, and Food and Beverage Attendant at Hotel Salcedo de Vigan.

A certified professional through and through, Glenn holds multiple national certifications from TESDA: National Certificate II in Bartending, National Certificate II in Housekeeping, a Trainers Methodology Certification, and a National TVET Trainer Certificate Level I in Bartending. These credentials have enabled him to serve as a frequent resource speaker, trainer, judge, and coach in hospitality competitions and seminars across the Ilocos Region.

His industry expertise has made him a sought-after speaker for institutions such as the Vigan Accommodation Entrepreneurs Association, Metro Vigan Inn, St. Xavier School of Arts and Sciences, and Abra Valley College. From topics like front office operations and housekeeping to bartending and mixology, Glenn delivers practical knowledge drawn from years of direct experience.

As a coach, Glenn has led his students to major victories—including two silver medals and one highest gold at the 16th Hotel and Restaurant and Tourism Weekend and National Food Showdown 2023 held at Baguio Country Club. He has also coached winners in the Ilocos Norte Food and Trade Expo and earlier ISHORE competitions, proving his effectiveness not just as an educator, but as a mentor and motivator.

Beyond the classroom and competitions, Glenn has played a crucial role in community development and tourism outreach projects. He has coordinated programs focused on eco-tourism, environmental cleanups, Filipino food heritage, livelihood training, and service excellence, benefitting hundreds of individuals across Ilocos Sur. His involvement includes projects such as the Gaco River Eco-Tourism Park clean-up, Putò & Bibingka livelihood workshops, and training sessions on sustainable tourism and hospitality service.

Academically, Glenn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from the University of Northern Philippines, where he is also completing his Master in Business Administration.
